FULL EPISODE SYNOPSIS (spoiler!)

Lucas is giving Nathan a ride home from the hospital. Nathan goes through his mails and finds countless bills. His hospital bill amounts to 100.000 Dollars and he has not paid his rent. But Nathan is optimistic that he will find a way to pay his debt. Lucas wants to know if Nathan aimed for the wall on purpose. Nathan says it was an accident.

Later, at the dealership, Lucas gets a visit from Brooke. She put the shredded papers she found in Lucas closet back together. Lucas takes her into the recreation room to avoid Dan's security cameras before he takes the paper from her. It's a bill of sale that is prove of Dan's schemes.

After work, Lucas visits Peyton to find out how she is doing and to get her help to figure out a way to raise cash for Nathan. He also promises to be there for her, if she needs him.

At Karen's Café all of Nathan's friends gather, Peyton, Mouth, Brooke, Tim and Lucas. Peyton suggests a movie night. Because of the weather they will have to do it at Tric.

Nathan finds out that his hospital bill has already been paid. Just then he gets a visit from Dan. Dan wants Nathan to move back home and to sign annulment papers for his marriage to Haley. Nathan refuses.

Lucas tells Brooke that the bill she put back together was for 12,000 Dollars, while the records in the dealership only show 9,000 Dollars. Lucas called the client who really paid the 12,000 Dollars, which means Dan pocketed three thousand.

In the evening, Lucas finally tells Nathan that he is going after Dan. Nathan is backing Lucas on that. Lucas convinces Nathan to come to the fund-raiser.

Brooke and Peyton go shopping. Peyton thinks Brooke is feeling more than friendship for Lucas again and she tells her it would be okay. Brooke still insists they are only friends and she doubts they could work it out this time when they couldn't do it the last time. But Peyton says they both have changed and are not the people they were a year ago.

Haley would like to get some time off to be with Nathan. But her manager tells her if she goes she will be replaced. Haley has to decide which is more important to her, the career or her husband.

At the café Lucas shows the bill to Andy. Andy promises Lucas they will get Dan. Andy wants to find out where Dan is hiding his money, then they will be able to get him.

Nathan comes to Tric where everything is being set up for the fundraiser movie night. Peyton asks him if his accident was really an accident. Nathan admits he isn't sure, but if it wasn't, he feels different now. He knows what's important to him now and wants to go back to pursue his dream of playing basketball.

When everything is set, Mouth accidentally plays a movie about road accidents because all of the movies are in the wrong cans. Lucas is abhorred and apologises, but Nathan thinks it's awesome. Lucas is worried about that.

Peyton confesses to Tim and Nathan that Brooke is driving her crazy. Peyton finds a letter among the bills. It's from Deb. Nathan goes outside to read it. When he comes back inside he realises he'd rather be alone.

Lucas sits next to Brooke for the next movie. He tells her he wouldn't know what to do without her. Brooke remembers her conversation with Peyton.

Karen looks at old photos. She misses Keith and writes him an e-mail, hoping that he will read it. She would like to help him but has come to realise and accept that he needs to go through this alone. Karen lets him know she is always there for him. Some time later Keith replies with a short "Thank you".

Lucas notices that Peyton is down and goes over to talk to her and give her a hug. Brooke watches, feeling a pang of jealousy.

Peyton calls on Nathan after Tim told her that he took him home. Nathan feels confused, his mother wrote she hopes they can be a family again. Nathan finds it hard to imagine that Dan could change.
Peyton also found a letter from Nathan's insurance saying it had been cancelled. Nathan finds out it his hospital bill and his rent were paid by Dan. Nathan storms home to confront his father. Dan tells Nathan he is truly sorry and he wants to change, but Nathan is not buying it. Though when Dan warns Nathan not to become like him, Nathan starts to wonder whether he might already be on his way to turn into another Dan.

The next morning, Lucas is cleaning up Tric after the party when Brooke comes in. Lucas is proud of Brooke for donating a large sum from her allowance. They talk about relationships and Brooke tells Lucas she is scared to open up her heart again.

Haley made her decision; she will go back to Nathan. But after her last performance Haley finds Dan in her dressing room. He gives her the annulment paper, signed by Nathan. Haley is shocked, confused and hurt.

Nathan calls Deb and promises her things will be different when she comes home.

Lucas is surprised to find Nathan packing. Nathan plans to move back home with Dan. Nathan really believes this is for the best and he wants to try and be a family again, for Deb's sake. Nathan asks Lucas to stop going after Dan, so that they can have another chance. Reluctantly Lucas agrees.

Brooke is putting Lucas things back into the closet. She talks to Peyton on the phone. Peyton advises her to call Lucas to go to a movie together. But while Brooke is talking to Lucas, she accidentally knocks over a box and finds old photos of Lucas and Peyton together. Brooke feels hurt and decides not to ask Lucas out after all.

Lucas feels a bit confused after the call from Brooke. Andy comes up to him. Andy had asked for a meeting, after finding out where 95,000 Dollar of Dan's money have gone. Dan has put it into a college fund for Lucas. There is no way of knowing if it is for real or just a scheme. Andy tells Lucas it is his decision whether or not Andy will keep digging or not. Lucas is as determined as ever to bring Dan down and tells Andy to keep digging.

When Nathan moves back into Dan's house Lucas moves out, back to his mother. Dan is surprised. Nathan understands that Lucas does it to be out of the way for the new start he wants to make. Lucas tells his father, it's just time. Karen is overjoyed when Lucas finally comes back. When she starts talking about some new rules Brooke assures her that Lucas and she are just friends. Lucas feels like his heart has been torn out.
